Highlights
- Look down on the most beautiful coastal bridge
- Walk through Bombo's "Gate of God"
- Find the Gothic-style Cathedral Rocks
Itinerary
- Bald Hill LookoutFirst we visit Bald Hill Lookout, one of Australia's best-known and most popular lookouts. The views are beautiful and it's an internationally famous hang-gliding spot; if the weather and wind are right, we'll see many paragliders taking off and landing.
- Sea Cliff BridgeAfter enjoying the views, we drive to the Sea Cliff Bridge. You can walk on the bridge and also look down on it from above (on rainy days the view from above is replaced by a visit to a century-old reservoir).
- Lunch at a seaside restaurant (at your own cost)At midday we have lunch at a scenic seaside restaurant at your own cost (booking needed in advance; you can also bring your own lunch).
- Bombo Headland Quarry ("Gate of God")After lunch we follow the coast to the basalt rocks of Bombo Headland; the NSW tourism website says walking here is like walking on the surface of the moon.
- Cathedral RocksThen we visit Cathedral Rocks, volcanic rocks shaped by years of erosion into amazing sculptural forms.
