Overview

Most whale watching means a long trip out to open water. Ours is different. Departing from Tidal River — deep inside Wilsons Promontory National Park — we drop you straight onto the southern coast’s migratory highway, where Humpback and Southern Right Whales travel in winter numbers that are hard to find anywhere else in Victoria.

In previous seasons, we’ve encountered whales on around 90% of our departures. We won’t promise what wild animals will do, but we know these waters intimately, and we use that knowledge to find and follow them with the care they deserve. Breaches, tail slaps, close passes — when it happens, it’s the kind of thing that stays with you.

The cruise runs 2.5 hours, and at one of the most accessible price points for whale watching in the region, it’s genuinely hard to beat for what you get.

En route, we visit Kanowna Island, home to a thriving Australian Fur Seal colony — and a seal sighting is something we can promise. These animals are a show in themselves: noisy, chaotic, unbothered. If time permits, we’ll push south to South Point, the southernmost tip of mainland Australia, and take in the Wilsons Promontory Lighthouse — standing since 1859, still impossible to ignore.

Whales are the headline. But out here, the whole coast is performing.

*Please note that tour stops and sights may vary to maximise whale-watching opportunities and ensure you get the most out of this incredible experience.

*Please note: While we encounter whales on around 90% of our departures, we can’t guarantee wildlife sightings since they are wild animals. However, we do follow strict marine mammal guidelines to give you the best chance. There is no complimentary re-trip if whales aren’t spotted on your cruise. And no refund will be provided. Please consider carefully before booking.
