Duration
Allow 1 ½ hours to complete a standard one-way Skyrail experience or up to 2 hours for a one-way Diamond View experience.
For a return (round-trip) standard experience, allow 2 ½ hours plus time to spend in Kuranda Village.
These timings include two stops at Red Peak and Barron Falls. You can however, choose to spend as much time as you like at Red Peak and Barron Falls.

1. Skyrail’s Smithfield (Cairns) Terminal
Skyrail’s Smithfield Terminal is located 15 minutes drive from Cairns City and 50 minutes south of Port Douglas.
The terminal is easily accessed by Skyrail’s bus transfer service. Free parking is available with dedicated parking for RV’s and caravans and an electric vehicle charge station.

2. Discover Red Peak / Guriguri Bunda:
Descend through the canopy to explore one of the most ancient pockets of rainforest on Earth, where unique plants and animals have survived the forces of nature and time.
This is the home of lush fern gardens, climbing palms, rare butterflies, birds and imposing rainforest giants, all of which are in constant competition for life-giving light.
Exploring the rainforest at Red Peak is an experience not to be missed, so allow yourself approximately 20 minutes to encounter, discover and immerse yourself in this fascinating living museum.

3. Discover Barron Falls / Dindin
Known as Dindin to the Djabuganydji people – Barron Falls is a sacred place that has been an important part of their storytelling for thousands of years.
While it is a spectacular sight at any time of the year, it really comes into its own during the wet season (December to March), when tropical rains bring the waterfall to life.
Exploring the spectacular, rugged beauty and pioneering history is an experience not to be missed. Plan to spend around 20 minutes discovering the rainforest stories of Barron Falls.

4. Kuranda Terminal
Located near the banks of the mighty Barron River, Kuranda Terminal is the start or finish point of your rainforest experience.
Inside you’ll find a range of facilities including ticketing, souvenir gift shop, cold drinks and snacks, souvenir photos, restrooms and a Skyrail Rainforest Foundation donation point.
The Skyrail terminal is located next to the Kuranda Railway Station and is a short walk from Kuranda village, renowned for its eclectic mix of markets, stalls, arts & crafts, cafes and restaurants.

Skyrail is located 15 minutes north of Cairns city and 50 minutes south of Port Douglas in the World Heritage listed Barron Gorge National Park.
How many people does a gondola carry?
Each standard Skyrail gondola seats a maximum of 6 people (including infants) or a maximum of 480kg (1058 lbs) whichever is first.
The Diamond View gondola upgrade seats a maximum of 5 people (including infants) or a maximum of 400kg (880 lbs) whichever is first.
We will endeavour to offer guests their own gondola, however in peak travel times sharing of gondolas with other guests may be required.
Bookings are taken on a per seat basis and the gondola is not offered exclusively.
Regarding pick-up and drop-off (only applicable to packages including pick-up and drop-off):
Pick-up area is within Cairns city center. Parking is not available in front of some hotels, private residences, guesthouses, or other locations. In such cases, you will need to make your own way to the nearest pick-up point. Please refer to the notes on your confirmation for specific pick-up time and location.
The driver is a local English-speaking driver and will not proactively call or wait for late guests. If you are not seen at the designated time or location, the driver will drive directly to the next stop to pick up other guests. Please be prepared 5-10 minutes in advance.
*Pick-up and drop-off cannot be added to a one-way cable car package.

Child: Fares apply to children aged from 4–14 years inclusive. Infants aged 0–3 years travel free of charge.
How to use
After the booking is confirmed, we will send a voucher to your email. Please check the email and check the voucher details. On the day of tour, please go Skyrail Smithfield Station OR Kuranda Terminal, the start station, and present your voucher at the counter to redeem the one-way Skyrail ticket.

Self-drive: Please drive to Smithfield Terminal to check in.
Transfers Package: 1. Pick-up service available to Cairns CBD hotel. If some hotels cannot stop or are not in the pick-up area, the nearest pick-up point will be advised. 2. After the booking is confirmed, an electronic confirmation will be sent to your email. Please check your email and check the booking information. In order to be on-time, it is recommended to know how to get to pickup point in advance. 3. The driver is a local English-speaking driver and will not call or wait for guest who is late. If he cannot see the guest at the specified time or place, he will drive away immediately to the next stop to pick up other guests. Please be there at least 5-10 minutes in advance.

Good to know
The cable car departs at fixed times, generally every 30 minutes. Please board at the time confirmed when you placed your order.
If you miss your designated departure due to personal reasons, you can ask the staff on the day of your trip for assistance in changing your departure time. However, the specific departure time will depend on the number of passengers that day, and the staff will adjust accordingly.
Cable car tickets are valid only for the day of purchase. If you do not use your cable car ticket on the day of purchase, it will be considered an automatic forfeiture, and the ticket will be automatically invalidated. We regret that we cannot arrange a change of travel date or a refund.
There are two stops along the cable car journey where you can disembark and hike on the trails. Free Chinese-language audio guides are available on the trails; you can scan the QR code to download them.
A one-way journey takes approximately 1 hours including time spent exploring Red Peak and Barron Falls. Allow 2 hours for a round trip experience. Skyrail can be combined with the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway for a half or full day experience. ; Gondolas depart continuously throughout the day and bookings are made in 15 minute intervals. Gondolas carry a maximum of 6 people in a standard gondola and a maximum of 5 people in Diamond View (including infants). Please take it as per your pre-booked time.
First departure is at 8:45am, the last round trip experience departs at 2:45pm from Smithfield or Kuranda and the last one-way experience departs at 3:45pm.
If you miss the pre-allocated time due to personal reasons, you may change the travel schedule with the staff on that day, but it's subject to the availability on the day. Once bookings are processed and boarding tickets issued/travel commenced, changes or upgrades on the day of travel are not permitted.
The ticket is available on the day of issue only . If the ticket does not be used, the ticket will automatically become invalid. No change of date or refund can be arranged.

Skyrail has a very limited number of coin operated lockers. Luggage is not permitted on the cableway or bus transfers.
We recommend reviewing the Skyrail website http://www.skyrail.com.au/visitor information/notices/ for up-to-date information regarding Skyrail’s operational status, schedule changes and opening days. Skyrail reserves the right to alter our operating days, times, and schedules without notice.

Once the product has been successfully booked, a confirmation voucher will be issued. The voucher contains important booking details and participation notes. Please read it carefully. If we do not receive any feedback from you, it will be deemed that you have read, understood and accepted all information stated on the voucher.

In the event of an unexpected incident where no travel insurance coverage applies, we will provide reasonable assistance where possible; however, any related costs or losses will be borne by the customer.
If the booking is cancelled due to reasons attributable to the travel product supplier, we will refund the amount paid for the affected booking. No additional compensation will be provided.
No-show: Ticket holders who fail to attend without prior cancellation or notification will not be eligible for a refund.
We will make reasonable efforts to assist customers in communicating and negotiating solutions with travel product suppliers.
When visiting attractions or participating in activities, please strictly follow all instructions provided by the venue and staff. Please ensure that you fully understand the associated risks, including any venue notices or safety waivers that may be required. Customers must cooperate with all safety requirements and must not engage in any dangerous behaviour during the activity.
