Good to know
The format of Koala Photo can change at any time from a hold, to a tree photo, side by side, an assisted hold, or other experience as indicated by Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. As a guide, the recommended height of a guest to be able to safely and securely hold a Koala is 140cm, however it is at the Koala handlers discretion on the day to ensure that a Koala can be held safely and securely unassisted. if a koala handler determines a guest requires assistance, one of three options will be offered – 1 – Tree photo. 2 – Cuddle shot with handler. 3 – Professional group/family photo with suitable person holding the Koala. Currumbin Wildlife sanctuary Reserves the right to change at any time and reserves the right to offer a pat photo instead of a hold. Please refer to our website for the most up to date information prior to arrival.
Please noted for holding or petting Koalas: For the safety of both animals and guests, park staff reserve the right to refuse koala petting if, but not limited to, the following circumstances occur: 1. Guests fail to follow the keeper's instructions or requests to interact with the koala; 2. The guest or koala is not in a suitable state for handling or petting; 3. Guests display fear or excessive movements that adversely affect the koala; 4. Koalas pose a health or safety risk; 5. Koalas cannot be held without assistance. Specific circumstances will be determined based on the conditions of the day. Park staff will do their best to accommodate photo requests, if permitted. If staff determine that koala petting is unsuitable, alternative photo options will be offered and no refund will be given. Thank you for your understanding.
