Who wants to “Get their Surf on”?

Our 2 hour introduction to surf session is for anyone ( 13 years and up) who just want to jump on a board and experience the thrill of surfing. This is a great session for first timers or some one who has maybe done one or 2 lessons and just need a bit more help with the basics. The intro lesson is conducted in the white wash, in waist deep water so its safe for anyone.

If you want to “Get your surf on” you will arrive at the beach in your boardies frothing to get in the water after a quick safety brief. We do guarantee we will do everything we can to get you standing up and catching a wave in the white wash in the first 2 hour session.

Surfing is such a great sport for all ages and these sessions are designed to give you a taste of surfing and hopefully you love it and want to come back for more, The Intro to surf is the prerequisite to our Beginner surf programs and we cover the following

• Identify the parts of the surf board and equipment

• Basic surf awareness

• Recognize hazards in the surf

• Learn the steps to standing on a board

• Ride a broken wave in the white wash assisted by the instructor

• How to fall off safely in the shallows

Get Ready: We really need you to be in your swim wear when you arrive so we can get the class started on time, we will check you in, make sure everyone has arrived, grab a rashie/ wet suit and board and head down to the beach.

Get Started: This is where you have to listen, the instructors will run through a really important safety brief about the conditions you are surfing in on that day followed by some really easy techniques to help you get up on the board as easily as possible and maximize your vertical time on the board and of course how to fall off safely. Once the instructors are confident that you are all good to go, its then time to ….

Our head office, The Surf Shack, is located behind the Seaway Cafe in Doug Jennings Park, Seaworld Drive, Main Beach.To find us, just walk down the right hand side, between the cafe and the amenities block and come in the back gate. Our office is usually attended from 7.30am to 3.30pm 7 days a week.

For the safety of our participants we conduct adults lesson separately to children’s. For the best results, our adults (13 years ) group surfing lessons run with a maximum 5 student to 1 instructor ratio (this is a lower ratio than recommended by leading surfing bodies). For children’s group surfing lessons (6-12 years ) we run with a maximum 4 student to 1 instructor ratio.

These sessions are an introduction to surfing so you need no experience or skills at all. The instructor is in the water with you the entire time. You can sign up for 1 lesson to see if you like it and if you want more we offer a discount for 3 or 5 lessons.

Ages

From 13 years and up (Include Student).

Student rates are applicable to anyone who is the holder of a valid student ID – children, adults and international students.

No swimming ability necessary as the lesson is conducted in waist deep water but you must be strong enough to hold on to your own surf board.

Pregnant women and anyone with a medical condition or previous injury are recommended to seek the advice of your physician.

How to use

After the booking is comfirmed you will receive an email with attachment. Please check the details on the voucher. On the day of tour, please take the voucher to participate in the avtivity.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your session time to make sure you complete check in.

The scheduled selection time is the first session time. If you choose a 3 or 5 session product, please confirm the reservation for the later sessions with the counter at the first registration.

Any rescheduling of sessions within 24 hours will have a 20% rescheduling fee applied.

Any no-shows will not be entitled to a refund.

Good to know

You need to bring: swimmers, towel, thongs (flip flops) and a bottle of water.

Participants must understand the precautions and safety instructions in English.

Photographic and or visual images taken by Get Wet Surf School of my participation in the activity may be used for general promotion of Get Wet Surf School.

PUBLIC HOLIDAYS: A surcharge will be applied to lessons on official Queensland public holidays.

At our surf school, we run surf lessons in all weather and surf conditions, rain hail or shine, providing it is safe to do so. If the surf is too big, or completely flat, or if the conditions are unsafe due to high winds or lightning, then we will reschedule your lesson. If we change the time and you are unable to come to the new lesson, then we will provide a credit toward another lesson at a later date. If that is unsatisfactory we may issue a refund at our discretion.

In the event of an unexpected situation without insurance, we will only assist in handling it.

No show: Ticket holders who 'no show' without prior cancellation or notification are not eligible for a refund.

We will try our best to assist tourists to communicate and negotiate solutions with tourism product suppliers.

For some marine products (including but not limited to various cruises, whale watching cruise, etc.), the supplier reserve the right to arrange alternative vessels or make changes to itineraries, service timetables, routes and/or destinations. The supplier may cancel or abandon the cruise if they consider it necessary for weather or safety reasons and except as expressly stated in these Terms and Conditions, we will not be liable for any loss or expense incurred by the Passenger caused by such substitution or cancellation.

When visiting attractions or participating in activities, please strictly adhere to the instructions provided by the venue or staff. Ensure you fully understand the associated risks (refer to venue announcements or the safety waiver required for signature for specific details), cooperate as required to implement appropriate safety precautions, and strictly refrain from engaging in any dangerous behaviors during the activity.
