The main difference between the DF and FD tours is the order of activities.
In the FD option, guests start by flying from Broome to Horizontal Falls, then continue with a bus tour of the Dampier Peninsula, including stops at Cygnet Bay and Beagle Bay before returning to Broome by bus.
Conversely, the DF option begins with a bus ride to the Dampier Peninsula, where guests visit Beagle Bay and Cygnet Bay, before taking a seaplane to Horizontal Falls for the latter part of the tour, ending with a flight back to Broome.
Both tours offer the same thrilling experiences, just in a different sequence.
Overview
The only Horizontal Falls tour where you soar in a seaplane, cruise in a power boat and trek across the Kimberley discovering its natural wonders. Fly over the amazing islands of the Buccaneer Archipelago, just one small part of your adventure learning about the Kimberley’s rich Indigenous culture, land, and community at Beagle Bay and Australia’s oldest pearl farm in Cygnet Bay.
Two delicious meals include a hot breakfast and lunch of locally sourced barramundi served in either of the spectacular settings of Cygnet Bay or on our floating dining pontoon at the Horizontal Falls.
Sections of the trip may be bumpy as some of the roads are unsealed.
Your comfort and safety are our priority, and our experienced pilots, skippers and local tour guides make sure you love every second.
What to Bring
Our Horizontal Falls Seaplane Adventure tours are well prepared and planned. It’s our job to take you on an adventure, it’s your job to enjoy it.
We spend a lot of time and effort ensuring that all our tours are meticulously planned and prepared for our guests’ enjoyment. There is only a handful of things you will need to bring when going on our tour:
A small bag or backpack (no more than 2kg)
Refillable water bottle
Sun protection
Camera
Change of clothes
Closed toe footwear (no thongs)
Swimwear and towel
Any personal medication or essential toiletries you require
Please note, alcohol consumption is not permitted on this tour. Alcoholic beverages can be purchased and consumed at Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm only during the tour.
Dates not in operation due to Neap Tides
To ensure that guests have the best possible experience witnessing the incredible tidal power of the Horizontal Falls, Horizontal Falls Seaplane Adventures will not be operating on the highlighted neap tides dates below.
Mid Tide Days
The power of the Horizontal Falls water flow is determined by fluctuating tidal movements. During mid tide dates, the tidal
movements are less notable, meaning the horizontal waterfalls are relatively serene making for a more scenic boat cruise and an opportunity to take in spiritual and historical significance of the area in a more relaxed setting. Please note – respecting local Indigenous beliefs, we only traverse the Wide Gap (first set of Falls) and do not go through the Narrow Gap (second set of Falls) however guests will see the narrow gap at a safe distance. During mid tide days, there will also be less water movement visible in the narrow gap. The experience of the Falls flow will differ from tour to tour every day as we operate in an environment that is different every day.

During the season, to ensure that passengers have the best possible experience witnessing the incredible tidal power of the Horizontal Falls, we do not operate on days when there are neap tides. Neap tides are when there is the smallest difference between low and high tides.
NO FALLS / WATER MOVEMENT GUARANTEE: We only operate Tours on days when predicted tidal movements are not Neap. Neap tide block out dates can be found on our website. We also specify particular dates on which water movement is expected to be slow. Water movement may be slow from time-to-time even on dates not designated as ‘slow water’ days due to the changing times of daily tidal movements.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have a suitable level of health and fitness to undertake the Tour. You are required to have a reasonable level of mobility, to be able to board and alight aircraft using stairs and maintain balance on pontoons.
We strongly advise that women who are at any stage of their pregnancy seek professional medical advice prior to travel.
To ensure the conservation and preservation of the Lalang-garram / Horizontal Falls Marine Park, and to provide opportunities for Dambeemangarddee Traditional Owner employment, fees apply to all visitors – this is included within your final tour cost.
During mid tide dates, the tidal movements are minimal meaning the horizontal waterfall is relatively inactive making for a scenic boat cruise and an opportunity to take in spiritual and historical significance of the area in a more relaxed setting.

Even so, the Horizontal Falls is a natural phenomenon which is dependent on tides. The experience differs from day-to-day and time-to-time. Although your Tour will include a power boat experience through the location of the Horizontal Falls, we cannot guarantee and we expressly disclaim any guarantee that your Tour through the Horizontal Falls will be at a time when water movement is to your preference. You acknowledge that for safety and cultural reasons, your power boat experience will travel through the ‘wide gap’ and not the ‘narrow gap’.
