Welcome to Phillip Island Nature Parks
Only 90 minutes from Melbourne, Victoria’s wildlife island features spectacular coastal scenery and plenty of Australian wildlife. Visit the Penguin Parade, take a virtual tour at the new Antarctic Journey, see the koalas at the Koala Conservation Reserve, or let time unwind at Churchill Island.
Phillip Island is home to the largest little penguin colony in the world. You can experience the magic of watching these amazing seabirds waddle home from the ocean to their burrows any night of the year from our viewing platforms and boardwalks.
Join your guide on this eco-accredited tour for an informative journey through the penguin colony, enjoying their commentary via your personal headset. Take your seat in the wonderfully located beachfront viewing stand offering superb viewing of the penguins emerging from the water and crossing the beach.
Opening Times
Please note the visitor centre opens a couple of hours before sunset when the penguins are due, approx 4 pm in winter months, and 6 pm in summer months. Penguins arrive just after sunset every night of the year.
We recommend guests arrive one hour before penguin arrival time to make their way through the visitor centre then find their seat on our grandstands and settle in. View our Penguin Arrival Calendar to determine what time you should plan to arrive.
